My name is An which means peace in Vietnamese. I was born and grew up in Saigon- the city was once called "The Emerald of the Far East".
As a millennial Saigonese, I've been seeing my historic and romantic city going through its transforming and developing day by day. Some for good, some for remembering... But the charm of the city and its vivid life are always there, that made capturing and sharing the city's moments and its every breath something special to me. Heard about Humans of New York when I first visited The Big Apple in 2012. And after my second trip there in 2014, Humans of Saigon was created by the inspiration of that concept. Then I started collecting quotes and stories from those I met, together with spreading out the idea to friends who I believe are eager to tribute to our beloved Saigon, aiming to get the world to know it and fall in love with it as we do. |
So here it is, Humans of Saigon through the lens of its people: The everyday one-photo-story Saigonese, expats and visitors that make the city unique and lively.
Let's get to know us, have a pleasant journey and be happy! |

Nhu is a well-traveller who I met years ago from my very first trekking trip where we spent 5 nights 6 days conquering a mountain in Vietnam. She has been in many cities around Asia, Europe and the United States where she enjoys learning about the people from different background and their cultures.
But Nhu impresses me not only because of her diversified experience across places, but also with her generous and the willingness "to share". That is the reason why she was in my top-of-mind thinking about friends I would like to team up.

And the stories will keep go on...
